Basanti is the yellow of spring festivals — warm, golden, the colour worn when the season turns. The cloth is bandhani, tied and dyed by hand so thousands of tiny points resist the colour and come out white against it. Each mark is its own small ring, and no two are quite alike.
The kurta is cut straight and easy, falling below the knee, with a round neck opening to a short notch at the centre. Three-quarter sleeves finish in a fine row of flat gold discs, and the same gold traces the hem. It is paired with a matching straight-leg palazzo.
The brightest of the four, and the one that photographs like sunlight.
